Warrior Words
Thursday, October 29th

1. There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow!

2. Conferences will be today from 3:30 – 7:00 p.m.

3. Would all the band students who were selected to be in the UMD Honor Band, please meet in the band room at 12:30 today.

4. Starting next week, the Media Center will be open after school, on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, from 3:30-4:30. This is a great opportunity for doing homework, checking grades, reading, or exploring things of interest to you.

5. The Student Council meeting for today will be held in Mr. Carlstrom’s room. All Student Council members are expected to attend.

6. Looking for a good book? Your classmates have selected the following as their favorites. Favorite Book: Twilight / Favorite Series: Harry Potter / Favorite Authors: Sephenie Meyer, closely followed by ties for: Meg Cabot, Eoin Colfer, Erin Hunter, David Peltzer, Rick Riordan, and J. K. Rowling.

7. Juniors – please turn your money in to the four class officers.

8. HALLOWEEN CANDY GRAMS! Will be sold in the concession stand during both lunch hours. Prices are 50 cents and $1.00. Send a candy gram to someone special!!! Candy grams will be delivered during 7th hour today. Please know the 7th hour class of the person you are sending the candy gram to!

9. Attention All Those with Warrior Spirit! Student Council is selling t- shirts and sweatshirts this week! Show your school spirit in new Warrior apparel! See Mrs. Felosi or Mr. Carlstrom – Supplies are limited! Only 25 of each!

10. There will be an 11th grade ETS meeting on Monday in the Boys & Girls Club room during advisory.

11. There will be a 9th grade ETS meeting on Tuesday in the Boys & Girls Club room during advisory.

12. There will be a 7th grade ETS meeting on Wednesday, November 4th in the Boys & Girls Club room during advisory.

13. Students who have missed four consecutive days due to the flu will be granted a one-time exemption for those four days.

14. Itasca Community College will host our second “Anishinabe Day” Career Fair on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 10am-2pm, Davies Hall Theater and lobby. We will feature FAFSA training, career exploration, and lunch. This year ICC is inviting nearby colleges and universities to set up recruitment tables. Sign up with Gerald White in Indian Education.

15. Senior pictures for the yearbook are due November 6th.

Athletic/Activities Information:

1. Please excuse the following students today as they will be competing in the section cross country meet held in Cloquet: Cody Gustafson, Kaila Juntunen, Ashley Trout, Geezis Humphrey, Peter Daigle, and Ryan Juntunen.

2. The Parent/Athlete Winter Meeting is on Tuesday, November 10. Registration starts at 5 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. This meeting is for parents and athletes in Wrestling, Nordic Ski, Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball, and Boys’ Basketball Cheerleading. By attending this meeting, the activity fee maximum for the year for your family will be reduced by $25.

3. A reminder to students & parents that school game passes cannot be used for playoff games. Also, ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

4. There will be play practice after school today in the west gym.

5. Event for today:
Cross Country Section Meet at Cloquet 11:00 a.m.

Events for tomorrow:
Volleyball Sectional Tournament to be played in Esko at 6:00 p.m.

Events for Saturday:
Football at Rush City 2:00 p.m.

Junior/Senior/Scholarship Information:

1. The following college representatives will be visiting DRHS:
Bemidji State – Nov 3 – 9:00
Fond du Lac – Nov 10 – 10:00
Please sign up on Mrs. Moll’s door if you would like to meet with college representative.

2. Drake University will award 2 Full-Tuition scholarships to high school seniors who compete in their annual Physics examination competition. This exam covers first semester high school physics topics including: mechanics, gravitation, fluids heat and thermodynamics. Sign up with Mrs. Moll no later than November 30th.

3. Plan to attend Experience Itasca: Wednesday, November 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Center for Continued Learning – Backes Student Center. You can also register to attend on their website at www.itascacc.edu just click on the visit campus menu item on the front page.
