Friday, March 27th

1. There will be a Senior Class meeting today during advisory in the Commons.

2. If you did not receive your quarter 3 report card, please see Theresa in the Office.

3. A huge congratulation goes out to DRHS ART students Frank Hellmann and Derick Mauser for having their art works selected as semifinalists at the North East Minnesota Freshwater Society “Water Is Life” art contest. Frank entered a video and Derick a painting for the contest. The two entries now move on to the State Freshwater Contest in May.

4. There will a 10th-12th grade ETS meeting on Monday during advisory in the Boys & Girls Club room.

5. COMING SOON!! Prom sign-ups will begin April 1st in the art room. Gather your friends, ask a date, but don’t miss out on the biggest night of the year. It will be a night you will never forget.

6. The Honor Roll is posted on the Office Service Counter.

7. On Monday, author Will Weaver will be talking with our 7th and 8th grade students in the library during 6th hour. Junior high students must report directly to the library after 5th hour and will stay in the library for the entire 6th hour. Will Weaver has written a series of books for adolescents entitled Saturday Night Dirt and our very own art teacher Dennis Peterson took the photographs used on the book jacket!

8. The next Blood Drive will be Wednesday, April 8th, 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sign up now on the Office Counter.

9. School wide locker cleanouts will be held next week. During advisory students will be required to clean their lockers and remove any writing from the lockers and/or doors. Cleaning supplies will be on hand the day of the cleaning. Any writing on lockers that require a janitor to clean will be assessed a $10 fine. The cleanout schedule is as follows: 7th & 8th grades on Monday, 9th grade on Tuesday, and 10th-12th grades on Wednesday.

10. Climb Theater will be here on Thursday, April 9th, to give a presentation to students in grades 6-9.

11. On Saturday, April 11th, Community Education will be sending a group to the Harlem Globetrotters game! Sign up on the Community Education door! An informational flyer and permission slip is available in the Indian Education Office or at the High School Office Service Counter. You must sign up, pay your fee, and turn in your permission slip by Friday, April 3rd. The fee is $26.00. Sign up on the Community Education door (#206).

12. Just a reminder that the deadline to sign up and pay your fee for Driver’s Education is April 1st. An informational flyer is available in the Community Education Office or at the High School Office Service Counter.

13. Thursday Nite Live has been postponed until Friday, April 3rd due to gym availability!

15. Happy Birthday this weekend to Neil Baumgarner, Jackson Carter, Tonya Rust, and Donald Sherman!

16. FYI: Students on the “No Pass List” should not be in the halls unsupervised. This includes the Warrior Walk for Wellness.

17. During Senior High lunch hour, senior high students should not be in the hallways where junior high classes are being held.

18. AFTER SCHOOL STUDENT BUILDING USE: Students in the High School after 3:30 p.m. have one of three options. Those options are: (1) A High School sponsored activity; (2) Boys & Girls Club; and, (3) tutoring. Students not participating in these activities are allowed only in the Commons. More information: (1) Students are required to sign up for tutoring by 6th hour every day. (2) TEENS: The only time that you can be at Boys & Girls Club is from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 3:15 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday’s. Students who are unable to follow these rules will lose their privileges and will be required to leave the High School premises after 3:30 p.m.

Activity/Athletic Information

1. Tyler Erzar of Deer River and Jessa Youso of Virginia were selected as the two Region 7 Triple “A” winners. They were selected from the Sub Section winners and will move on to competition at the state level. The sixteen winners (a girl and boy from each region) of the eight single “A” Regions and the sixteen winners of the eight “AA” regions of the MSHSL will be recognized at banquet put on by the MSHSL on Saturday, March 28th. That same day, they will be recognized during halftime of the Class AA Boys Basketball State Championship game at Target Center. Congratulations!

2. Event for today:
Varsity Track Meet at UMD 4:30 p.m.

Junior/Senior/Scholarship Information

1. North Country Power Scholarship – Seniors – If your parents are customers of North Country Power, you can compete for a North Country Power Scholarship. Deadline is April 17th – applications are available in the counseling office.

2. Lake Superior College has a Spring Open House – April 17th from 3-6. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about LSC!

3. There are many Scholarships  available, see Mrs. Moll for details.
