Assertive Discipline Plan

Dear Parent,

In order to guarantee your child, and all the students in my classroom the excellent learning climate they deserve, I am utilizing the following discipline plan.

Rules:

1. Get to class on time.
2. Bring your own books, paper, pen or pencil to class.
3. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized by the teacher before talking.
4. Use only appropriate comments and actions.
5. Remain seated unless you have permission.
6. Work on board problems at the start of class.
7. Follow directions and participate in group work.

Consequences:

1^st Offense:            Name on the board or verbal warning

2^nd Offense:            Check by name or verbal warning

3^rd Offense:            2^nd check or verbal warning-student will be assigned detention

 note: Student will receive detention for 2 tardies or 5 rule infractions in 1 week

Severe clause: Student will be sent to the office.

Reprieve:  A student may remove a check and /or detention by making what the teacher considers a significant contribution to the class discussion.  That is: a good question or sincere attempt to solve or answer a problem.
