School Closing Information 

In the event Independent School District #317, Deer River, Minnesota, needs to close school due to inclement weather or other school emergencies, we will post such notifications on the main page of the district website as well as the methods listed below.

We will use the following radio stations to inform you:

• KOZY 1320 AM
• KMFY 96.9 FM
• WKKQ 650 AM
• WTBX 93.9 FM
• KAXE 91.7 FM
• KGPZ 96.1 FM
• MIX 103 FM

We will also use the following TV channels:

• Channel 7/12 KCCO/KCCW

NEW IN 2008! 

Recently ISD 317 Deer River unveiled an instant mass communication system called "Instant Alert".  Instant Alert brings the news directly to parents and they can decide how and where they receive these messages.  The system is very flexible and allows users to choose how they are contacted through multiple communication tools including e-mail, cell phones, PDAs .....

We used this system to announce the April 7th school closings (inclement weather).  Parents and/or Guardians of students in ISD 317 Schools received an automated message with this closing information (the message was sent out to the home phone number on file at the schools).
